Participation in The Divide 200

Updated August 12, 2023. See the original T+C here, which apply to registered competitors for the 2023 race.

1. Participation in The Divide 200

Participating in a running event, trail running race, or off-trail race is a potentially hazardous activity. Registrants agree to participate only if they are physically able, are prepared to carry the necessary gear, and agree to abide by all rules of the event. Registrants will seek a physician’s advice and approval if they have any doubt as to their physical ability. The race directors of Western Ultra Racing Association (WURA) and their partners have the right to refuse the participation of any registrant if they feel there is a concern for that person’s health and safety, including withdrawing the participant from competition. The participant assumes all risks associated with this event, which may include, but are not limited to, dehydration, hypothermia, falls, poor conditions on the racecourse, poor weather, animal encounters, contact with other registrants, and vehicle traffic. Registrants must complete and sign a waiver prior to commencing the event. Minors are only allowed to participate in the event if they present a waiver that is signed by a parent or authorized guardian. These regulations are for the safety of all participants in the race. WURA and their partners reserve the right to disqualify and remove anyone from the event if they in any way contravene the rules, engage in unsportsmanlike behavior or endanger themselves or other participants. If you are not a Canadian citizen or you are not covered by Canadian public healthcare, you are responsible for acquiring sufficient insurance coverage prior to starting the race.

2. Use of Images

WURA and its partners have the right to use any photographs or video recording taken of participants and spectators during the course of the event without remuneration to the individual. This includes reproduction in both print and electronic media.

3. Prizes and Gifts

Any prizes or items for racer gift bags are sponsored and may change without notice due to availability. WURA and their partners reserve the right to cancel any sponsored gifts or prizes without notice should the items become unavailable.

4. Payment

There is a non-refundable deposit in order to hold your entry. The balance must be paid by February 15 in order to keep your registration.

You are not considered registered until full payment is received. The registrant agrees to pay the full amount quoted when registering. If payment is not received at that time, the registration may be cancelled.

5. Registration Fees

WURA reserves the right to change the price of the event without notice. Registrants that have already paid in full will not have their entry fee increased due to a price change.

6. Registration Numbers

WURA reserves the right to change the registration limit for a race without notice.

7. Refund, Cancellation, and Withdrawal Policy

If you need to withdraw from a race, WURA is able to provide registrants with following options:

  1. Up until May 1 of the event year, WURA can offer an 80% refund.
  2. Up until August 15, participants are able to work with WURA to transfer their entry to another competitor

Registrants may add RegShield purchase protection to their registration for an additional fee. The purpose is to provide the ability for them to have a refund should they not be able to attend an event. Please note:

  1. We advise registrants to read and understand the terms of the RegShield plan as not all reasons for not being able to attend an event are accepted
  2. RegShield must be purchased at the time of registration; it cannot be added once you are registered
  3. RegShield is paid directly to the insurance company via Race Roster and is nonrefundable
  4. RegShield is linked to the individual who registered and it is not transferrable between individuals should you sell or gift your registration.
  5. RegShield is not transferrable between events

If you added RegShield to your registration and need to withdraw, it is important to contact RegShield first. If you have difficulty receiving a claim, please contact us and we can advise on options.

Notwithstanding, in the event that a race is cancelled or rescheduled due to circumstances beyond WURA’s reasonable control including, but not limited to, forest fire, smoke, flooding, inclement weather, disease, pandemic, acts of war or terrorism, imminent threat to public safety, declaration of emergency, or direction by municipal, provincial or federal government or their representatives, WURA and its partners are not able to offer refunds or deferrals. WURA and its partners may compensate registrants in a manner that they deem suitable. WURA is not responsible for the cost of a registrant's travel, accommodation, board, or any other expenses incurred due to event cancellation.

WURA and its partners has an obligation to work with only the individual who paid for a registration. Any refunds granted will be transferred back to the original credit card that paid for the entry. If this is not possible, it will be sent via e-transfer to the original payer, or anyone they authorize to receive the refund.

If you wish to transfer your registration to someone else, see section 8 below.

8. Registration Changes + Transfers

Registrants may transfer their entry to another individual, or modify their registration, up until August 15, although we cannot guarantee T-shirt availability if changes are made in the last 60 days.
